Graph Talk Developer

Job Description

Required:

• Multi-tier client/server or web development experience with a language like C++, C#, Java, Python, Ruby, Smalltalk in a Windows or Linux / Unix environment
• Development experience using and IDE - something like Eclipse, Visual Studio, IntelliJ etc
• Use of RDBMS (preferably Oracle but SQL Server etc. is fine)
• Exposure to technologies like XML, HTML
• Good understanding of the SDLC
• Some project development methodology experience – e.g. Waterfall, OO, Agile or DevOps
• A decent understanding of relevant operating system & standard toolsets – e.g. Windows, MS Office, configuration management (SVN, Git) etc
• General IT background & understanding of corporate IT
• Logical, analytical & used to work in teams  
• Basic understanding of business context - Life & Pensions sales & admin, corporate finance
• Openness, willingness to learn, ability to work independently

Nice-to-have:

• Commercial packaged software development & deployment
• OO development experience
• Exposure to modeling tools & methods – Rational, Enterprise Architect, UML etc
• Identification & use of object development patterns 
• Deeper Client / Server skills – particularly database (design, administration, performance tuning tec.)
• Integration – Web services, (SOAP mainly), DLL, DDE, Document production & management, workflow
• Tools like TOAD, SQL+, SOAPUI, SVN / Git etc.
• More detailed L&P knowledge would be a distinct advantage
